Best Weekend Ever

Whew....can't believe it is Sunday....

We had a great weekend at the Guy household.  Some of the highlights...

1.  My sweet hubs...his new job is going so UH-mazing...restaurant business is crazy...but I am loving the people he is working for....he was able to talk to and get to know the "Big" guy a little better this weekend.  He was assured that family is first, work is second and that there is an open door policy.  The hubs walked away with such a great feeling...and it is nice that he is going to be able to truly schedule around our kids soccer games, school performances, etc.

This is why I love this man....after a 10 hour day at work, he walks in and is attacked by our kiddos!  They missed him so much...so instead of saying "hold on" "not tonight" or "maybe later" he plopped down on the ground within minutes of walking in the house and began playing games with the kiddos...and then we ended the night on the couch with the kiddos watching the Thunder game with popcorn.  Now that is a great Saturday night :)

2.  Oh Bryce...this kid cracks me up...I have been attempting to give each child (when time allows) their own bath.  With 4 kiddos, there are few moments in the day to get one on one time.  So with an individual bath, I can laugh and talk to each of them about their day.  So while I was giving Austin a bath, the 3 older kids took off to the living room with Katelyn's headbands...and then came running back in all fixed up.  So Bryce comes up to me and says, "Take my picture" and strikes a pose!  Such a cutie!
 3.  Austin and I had some really great one on one time Saturday....he decided an afternoon nap just wasn't going to happen :)  So we took the time to read books and color.  Such a happy little fella...he loves his books and he is really starting to like coloring...and he doesn't even eat the colors anymore :)

4.  Special delivery!!  Love me some Etsy....combine that with throw pillows and I am one happy girl!!  My new throw pillow covers have come in!  I am going to cover up some old pillows from the couch to spice it up a little...So incredibly excited!!

5.  Church....ahh....love love love loved the message...(if you are curious, find it here).  We had our final week of the Samson series and it was truly powerful and will challenge me as I take on this week.  Best takeaway...."Failure is an event, never a person" Craig Groeschel.  So true...it can be very easy to let a situation define us...anyway...so good!!

6.  74....as in degrees!!  That was what we took full advantage of today :)  After a busy day of donuts for breakfast, church, trip to Target, and school setup, we headed to McAlister's to pick up sandwiches and then to the park for slides and swings...and a picnic, of course.  So fun!  Love how much the kids love playing with each other and with us.

7.  Craft time....thank you Melissa & Doug for such fun toys!  When Austin was down for a nap, I set up the 3 older children with plates of wooden beads with shapes and letters and a colored shoe string to make a necklace.  The way they played showed how different they are....Katelyn was busy making a pattern with her beads and spelling her name....Bryce, got somewhat frustrated at first...takes alot of hand coordination to get the bead thing down...but with some help he was sucessful and found the first initial of each of the kiddos (K, C, B, A) and then proceeded to fill it up with his remaining wooden beads.  Carter did his own thing...he would separate the wooden beads by letters and shapes.  Then by colors and then he would put them all back together and then do it all over again.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend with my family.  We have a couple of kiddos that seem like they are going to be getting sick....coughing like crazy but hopefully it won't get too bad!  I hope everyone has a great week!!

If you like to talk to tomatoes....

So we had a special little family day planned today....a couple of months ago when checking out the Veggie Tales website for movies and fun for the kiddos...I noticed on the side bar the sign that said "Veggie Tales LIVE" tour...so I clicked through and was excited to find tickets at a theatre about an hour and a half away :)  So we bought them and decided to surprise the kiddos.

Fast forward those long 8 weeks of not telling the kiddos...which was really...really...REALLY hard...we started our day with clothes out for everyone...

Bathtime to get all good and clean...

Time to load up!

and a brief car ride....and of course, Carter fell asleep :)
But we finally arrived at our destination...Ada, Oklahoma :)  We walked in and they were passing out stickers with Bob and Larry....and it all clicked for the kids...well, kinda...they knew we were at a theatre and they kinda were thinking we were seeing a Veggie Tales movie...but were excited to find out it was the LIVE show.

We, of course, got a couple of souvenirs

Got new t-shirts and Bob for Carter and Katelyn and Larry for Bryce and Austin.  Everyone was very happy with their new friend.  The three older kids are currently snuggling with their new friend in bed :)

They did a pretty good job during the show.  I actually think Austin had the best time.  He laughed and danced the entire time.  Carter was pumped for the popcorn and music...Katelyn did some dancing and Bryce sat on my laugh in awe.  It was ALOT of fun!

The kiddos in front of the theatre
My Sweet Kiddos :)
After the show we walked around for a little bit and then loaded back up to head home...but then mid drive we thought we should head to a park and enjoy the sun and the day.  So we stopped at a great park and let the kiddos run like crazy!

So pretty :)

Such a GREAT play area!

Austin met a girl...and followed her around :)

Brothers sliding :)

We had a great time today.  After the park, we decided we should end the night by going out to dinner.  Let me tell you what an amazing idea this was with 4 kiddos that had not had naps...I would've included pictures...but hey, who wants to see kiddos crying :)  It was kinda a disaster...and Kev and I took some serious deep breaths...but reminded ourselves that they are only kiddos....and then realized it is better to have a sense of humor about it than get mad.  Neither solve anything really...but laughing is way more fun :)

I hope everyone else enjoyed their Friday!!

Once upon a time...

There was a precious princess party.....

Katelyn was recently invited to the best little princess party.  An old friend of mine has a daughter the same age as Katelyn and it is so much fun that we can get together and watch our girls play.

Her daughter's favorite princess is Ariel and so she was all dressed up as Ariel...we also had a Belle, Snow White, another sweet Ariel and Katelyn went as Cinderella.  They were all so cute walking around and fixing their hair and patting down their skirts to make sure they looked "just right".

About 15 minutes into the party, the doorbell rang and they all rushed to the door....and to everyone's surprise it was Ariel!  What a great Ariel she was....she was patient, kind and so great with each of the girls.  She entertained them the entire time and they were all so quiet and in awe.  If she asked a question, they would all answer with such enthusiam...if she asked them to do something, they would hop to it...if she told them to be wait...they were as patient as can be....basically I need to hire her as a nanny :)

Ariel presented them with a secret treasure chest filled with surprises...which they all guessed to be jewelry, candy, toys....they all were so excited to find out.  However, the birthday girl had to pass 3 princess tests to get the key and all the girls helped out.  They danced to Under the Sea and played with different hats and made funny faces.  They played follow the leader throughout the house and then they did one more test...but I think I was partaking in pizza and a cupcake...so I missed it :)

They ended up getting to pick 3 prizes from the chest...they were so excited!  They got their faces painted and even got to make their very own crowns.

It was such a fun time to see the girls enjoy every single moment.  It was also nice to have a little girl time with my sweet girl.  The 3 boys got to hang out with their Granny so they had a good time too.

When we were walking out...Katelyn looked at me and said that was the best party ever!  Of course...she says that when we leave Target :)  However, I am pretty sure she is sold on the idea that I will be making contact with Belle to make sure she is available for her ballet party....in November....she is such a little planner :)

So I blogged this on my phone...so all the pics are in a clump:). Sorry!!

Double Duty

So lately the "terrible" 2's are alive and well in our house...."terrible" 2's time 2 that is...the boys have not only been pressing our buttons with tantrums and general frustration but they have been making a point to annoy one another.

I am sure ALL siblings do this...but I am trying to figure out this sibling rivalry with twins and it is quite overwhelming!  They are both SOOOOO different from one another.  They might be twins...but they look different as night and day and act just as different in situations.  I had expected to deal with the ups and downs with each of them...but now that they are battling each other, it has made me kinda sad.

I miss the sweet little boys that just followed each other around the house laughing and giggling...holding hands....they would call each other best friends.  That has all changed....they still have their moments but for the most part they are constantly trying to wrestle each other, annoy one another or just downright be mean.  I am not sure what this is stemming from but we have talked to there teachers at school as well and they have had issues with them too :(.  They are great with other kids and super hard on each other.

It looks as though we are going to separate them in different classrooms this summer.  I am a little apprehensive...not really sure how they will react.  Bryce is so independent and outgoing, I do not think it will bother him, however, Carter is the opposite.  It takes him awhile to open up to others and he is quite shy.  So I am a little concerned on Carter's behalf that he will feel a little lost without his brother.  I am also a little hesitant because they split them in classes by age, and since they are obviously same age...one will go to the appropriate age classroom and one will move up.  Hoping that adjustment goes well...

I am sure it is a phase that they are consistently annoying each other....I know they will still have their ups and downs...but I hope some of this blows over. Every time I look at them...I still see these little guys...

My little guys....so precious!

Any twin moms out there that have gone through these growing pains??  Any advice??

Hope everyone is having a good week!!  Happy Fat Tuesday!!

Are we there yet????

So, this past week Kevin started his new job :)  Yay!  Since I knew he would be busy all weekend, I decided to take a little road trip with all the kiddos.  Well...and my parents....It was homecoming at my dad's college back where I grew up (Jacksonville, TX....aka little town in East Texas) and they were having a 40 year reuion for his team.

Anyway...I plan on posting a few pics once I get them downloaded (hopefuly tomorrow) but wanted to at least touchbase with the blog world :)

We had to take separate cars, since my cars fits two adults and 4 car seats, and a stroller....barely leaving enough room for any luggage...but we made it all fit :)

My parent's were kind enough on the way down to take two kiddos and I took two kiddos.  We separated the boys since they have been having fighting issues.  We had paper, colors, movies, snacks and a few toys for the car for this 6 hour road trip.  On the way back, my parents stuck around a little longer but I decided to head back so I would be able to get back to go to church tonight with the Hubs.  So I had all three boys by myself on the trip back....interesting :)  But we all got out with smiles on...so nothing to tramatic!

Things I learned...

1.)  Road trips used to be my "thing"....I loved the spontaneaous road trip...and I loved being on the road and singing as loud as I could...driving probably WAY to fast and laughing with friends...stopping to get snacks or just taking our time...Now...I prefer planning...getting from point A to point B as soon as possible...no unscheduled stops...and no speeding...I have this definite feeling of protectiveness of the little munchkins in my car and want to arrive where we are going safe and sound.  Especially when I am by myself with them.

2.)  My loud rap music is now replaced with the wonderful songs from Disney and/or Veggie Tales.  Both which I really enjoy...especially hearing the kiddos sing them.  Favorites to listen to in the car??  Lion King because of the great songs and Aladdin because of the Genie :)

3.)  Crayons and paper are only entertaining for about 20 minutes on a road trip...not so good on a 6 hour trip :)

4.)  Pandora "The Chair" (George Strait) radio station is UH-mazing...love me some 90's country...brings back some great memories of high school :)

5.)  Happy Meals sometimes truly cause happiness :)

6.)  I can wait 6 hours to pee...(TMI?)  Just the thought of unloading a one year old and 2 two year olds for me to go to the bathroom gave me the sheer will power to keep  going until I got home...I am pretty sure chaos would have occured :)

7.)  Had an amazing moment in the car as we drove...I looked back in the rearview mirror and saw my sweet boys sleeping so soundly...and realized how much I loved them...and how much they love and trust me...they had no doubt in their mind to put their trust in me to get the home...and slept peacefully....so cool

I hope everyone has had a great weekend :)

Oh Valentine's Day....

*This is the post that was deleted...I found a partial bit of it and figured I would post it so I could remember Valentine's 2012...it erased the sweet Q & A portion about Kev and I...but I will leave that for another day :)

So I meant to post last night....however, we ended up getting home late...and then in the attempt to put flowers in a vase for me...Kev sliced open his pinkie and ended up going to after hours to get stitches :/  Poor guy!  We didn't have big plans to celebrate Valentine's on actual Valentine's day...we aren't big on celebraing the holiday....but it still wasn't much fun having him gone!!

The night before the kiddos had gone down to my parents house so Kev made us dinner while I cleaned out the closet.  He made apple sage pork chops with rice...Yummo :)
