Ok...so this will be somewhat serious....and somewhat comical...there are many aspects of parenting that scare the you know what out of me....it started with the normal fears of bringing home a newborn...feeding schedules, lack of sleep, when to feed solids...should I give Tylenol, vaccines....eating cheerios off the floor...formula vs. breastmilk...always wondering what was best...and eventually finding out, ultimately, there was no right answer....it actually ends up being what best works for us....
I know that I have done things that some parents would cringe at...but between my "mother's intuition" and trusting my pediatrician....I have made decisions that have best worked for our family. It still makes me laugh that I will say something that my kids are doing....and I get feedback on how I am doing it all wrong...by a complete stranger :) Go figure...
Since having Austin (precious baby #4) just 3 years after having Katelyn (sweet baby #1) most "new baby" fears were out the window. He just goes with the flow :) So now that we are approaching the 1st birthday of Austin (tear...sniffle, sniffle), I am looking into the near future....and the not so near future of things that I am just not ready for....
Potty Training
This is a current battle I am having...I have two 2 year old boys that I am honestly dreading (don't judge) to potty train. One has a little interest...one has no interest...and I am not emotionally, physically ready to start this process....this is why it is on hold. However, I realize it is in inevitable that the boys MUST learn how to use the bathroom without a diaper :) I think it is just the idea of getting both of them trained...and turning around and seeing that it will be time to train Austin....that is ALOT of potty training. I still stand by the hope that Austin will magically potty train himself after watching two brothers go through the process LOL....ok...maybe not
ER Trips
With 4 kiddos....3 being boys....I can only imagine the ER trips we might take...the very fear of my children being injured scares me. But, yes, I know it will eventually happen. My brother's had there trips in and out from falling off four-wheelers, playing sports, etc...I had my trips with broken arms and sprained ankles....so I know it is going to happen...and man I hope I can keep my cool. Prayer will be my best friend, I know...
Broken Hearts/Breaking Hearts
Ok...this is two-fold....first, I hate the idea of my kids heart ever being broken...whether it be by failure to achieve a goal, not making a team, not feeling included, or feeling lonely. We have begun their little lives with teachings about Jesus...and the love they have no matter how alone they may feel. I pray that this remains their foundation and they seek Him in time of comfort. On the other side...I pray for my children to have kind hearts...that they do not hurt another person in any way. I, of course, don't want to have a child that bullies, says hurtful things or decieves others. In all honesty, I know that both of these things will happen. I pray that these are situations that I can use as teaching tools for my kids.
Facebook
I know that, yes, I am on Facebook...but I can't imagine the day that my kids are...what if they won't be my friend!?!
Cell Phones
The bills, the texting, the inability to spell words correctly due to texting...you get my idea...I do not want to lose my kids to technology. There will be some serious rules around this one :)
The first boyfriend/girlfriend
So...I know I got a while on this...(at least I better) but, as a parent...I am just hoping this never happens :) Too much to ask?? Well, if it does...I am hoping that my daughter has a good head on her shoulders....and that I raise my boys in a manner that they KNOW how to treat a lady.
Driving Cars
I did not get my license until I was 17 years old....I was in a wreck 3 months prior to turning 16 and it scared me off the road...until I was 17. So, I am not looking forward to the kids driving off into the sunset....I might just be one of those crazy parents that puts GPS on my kids cars/phones/whatever device they have to keep track of where they are at all times. I know this sounds like I expect the worst from my kiddos...I don't...but I just have these fears of the unknown happening.
Senior Trip
All I have to say is....my kids will not go...nothing good happens on these...people disappear...rules are broken...things get bad. We will take a wonderful family trip instead :)
Ok...so I KNOW this is random...but these are things that I think about when I look into the eyes of my sweet little children. I know that God has a plan for their life...I pray that I am able to give them the tools they need to seek that life.
Happy Thursday!!

Just so I remember....
Well folks...I had a crazy busy day so I am just leaving a funny story (at least to me) that I wanted to write down before I forget....and these days my memory is very limited LOL.
So it was last weekend....and we went to Cracker Barrell with my parents....so we had the 4 adults and the 4 kiddos...and the kiddos had been in rare form all day. Once we got sat down, all the kids seemed to calm down and we were able to order and get drinks and settle in.
Of course this lasted only a couple of minutes...because Bryce says "I need to go potty...." well, this is coming from a child that has NEVER done anything in a potty, besides sit on it and read a book. I have not yet attempted potty training...I am not mentally prepared. However, if one of the boys is closer to the concept, it would be Bryce. So I don't want to ignore his attempt....so I say alright...let's go...and then....
"I need to go potty too..." (KK)
"Me too...me TOO!" (Carter)
Well, OF COURSE the other two kiddos would chime in and want to go...and who wouldn't :) So, I agree and unload the boys out of their high chairs and we head to the bathroom. Which is in the General Store of the restaurant...which has about 1,000 things to deter a toddlers attention...but anyway, Kev agrees to go with me and the crew and I figure I am in the clear. KK is a breeze to take to the potty.
However, as we begin to separate to BOYS and GIRLS bathrooms, the boys decide they want Momma....and KK then wants Dad. So, in I go with the boys....and we find a stall. Bryce sits down and wants to sing....we sing the usual, Veggie Tales, ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle....and nothing...but of course he announces, "I done" and wants to play with the toilet paper. Carter, not to any surprise, refuses to sit down on the toilet...so I take the opportunity to go potty myself. I let the boys know that momma needs to peepee (TMI ?? Sorry!)and they say..."OK!" and start playing with the door....of course I tell them to stop, and of course they don't listen...and they unlock the door and walk out to find daddy....leaving me with my pants around my ankles...in a public restroom...and not only do they leave the stall...they walk out of the bathroom!!! They heard Kev's voice outside the door so I am yelling to make sure Kev has them....and trying to get dressed.....I just started thinking how funny it was because the boys had no idea....or care in the world.....Crazy boys....I am pretty sure I will have some LOTS and LOTS of stories that pertain to me, a couple of boys and public restrooms....I hoping I am fully clothed in the remaining stories.

2 years...
I honestly still remember it like it was yesterday...two sweet boys placed in my arms...they looked different as night and day...one with a headful of dark strands, the other with hair you could barely see. One a whopping 1 pound and 4 ouches bigger than the other....he is still my best eater....sweet hands, tiny feet....and I was so scared/excited/in a state of shock/in love.....thank you Lord for blessing me with two amazing boys on this day two years ago....they have taught me patience, joy, hardship and above all else that with You, anything is possible.
I love you Carter and Bryce!!
I love you Carter and Bryce!!

Batter Up...
Well...I have been spending the last couple of nights preparing for a BIG weekend...the boys turning TWO!!
The theme of the party is "Baseball" and I have been making banners and signs to decorate (with the help of my friend Sylvia and her wonderful Cricut!). It has been fun getting prepared, although I feel like I still have a TON of stuff to do....but the hardest thing to do is realize that 2 years have flown by since these two little boys entered our home. Unbelievable....

I remember the day we went to the hospital due to some issues I was having...I was 7 weeks along and we had already had one ultrasound and everything looked fine...so that day we had to go back, I was so nervous to walk in the ultrasond because I was waiting to hear bad news..that something had happened...and instead we had an ultrasound tech that kept looking...and looking...and then she left the room (apparently she was new and wanted to confirm) and came back with another tech...which showed us Baby A and Baby B....we were speechless.
I feel so blessed to have Carter and Bryce. This week will probably be filled with various stories about the boys as I prepare for their party!! Yay for Birthday week!

21 months old
Here is how it all started....day one...

My precious boys...I remember being in the hospital and being SCARED out of my mind...two at once??? I didn't even know where to begin....but man, they were (are) so precious...even looking at this picture, it brings tears to my eyes....
Fast forward 21 months...and here we are today...

Little boys...that love to eat, laugh, wrestle, play, read books and frustrate one another....they are best of friends...and at times the worst of friends...they talk to each other every day when going down for a nap and are the last to tell each other good night before they drift off to sleep at night.
They love waking up in the morning and if one is up before the other, you can hear (usually Bryce) saying, oh, so quietley..."Carter!?!"...."CCCCaaaarrrtteeerr!!!" until brother wakes up...then they stand and bounce in their cribs and laugh at one another...

They have such a unique relationship....twins fascinate me. I love hearing stories when we pick them up from MDO about how they play with other kids but they always keep tabs on where each other are...and "check-in" with one another on occassion...as if to say, "Hey brother...I am still here".
As much as they are on their own level with one another in their own "Carter & Bryce" world...they are SUCH individuals...With Katelyn, our first, I would get the weekly e-mails telling me what kids a certain age are doing...and she always seem to be on track or ahead...and I will admit I always felt so good that she was so "normal"....with Carter and Bryce this went out the window...and I changed my idea of normal...they have always been on their OWN schedule.

My little Carter Man....he is our lover...he is full of hugs and kisses and is ready and willing to share. He talks with his eyes...because he is not much of a conventional talker. He is super easy going 90% of the time...he is however very rough when it comes to playing with his brother and sister...he hasn't quite mastered the "pat", his is more like a slap. We are working on this...and time out seems to part of his daily ritual...but I know it will get better. He is quite the little sports star...his favorite toys are balls and he loves to catch, roll and throw. He is still learning how to be graceful on his feet....he just started walking at 15 months old, so it is a process and he is getting much quicker...he has almost caught up to Bryce!
When we go places, he is definitely not the center of attention...he is much more quiet and reserved. He is coming out of his shell though. Last night when we dropped the kids off at Parent's Night Out...he forged ahead of Katelyn and Bryce and walked to his room...he was ready to play! Oh..and I must add in, when he gets excited and starts walking somewhere, his left arm starts swinging like crazy, but his right arm stays still. Cracks me up!
As I said, he is not much of a talker...he still uses some of his sign language and points but we are working on words everyday. He has a handful he uses but when it comes to understanding and listening, he is hands down the best of the two. He loves to help and clean up. He is great at puzzles and blocks. He loves to dance and sing. In a word...he is precious and makes my heart melt. He still adores his daddy more than anyone...

Brycers...aka "Momma's Boy"....totally and completely...I would be lying if I said I didn't love the fact when I walk in the room his world stops and he runs to me....I kinda think it is the best! He is such a guy on the go...he walked before Carter so he is much more graceful on his feet and instead of walking, pretty much runs everywhere. No matter where we are going, he wants to be part of the action. Whether it is church, Mother's Day out, the mall...where ever...he wants to walk in and start playing.
He is my monkey. He climbs, jumps (well, kinda jumps), slides and swings. He has no fear...which has lead to a shiner, lots of bumps and bruises...skinned knees and a few tears...but he is all boy. Well, until it comes to sister's hats and purses...he is a BIG fan of all things dress up :)
So...I never thought anyone could talk more than Katelyn but I am coming to find out that Bryce is going to be tough competition. I imagine the dinner table is going to be quiet the circus as they all get older and we sit down to talk about everyone's day. Bryce is SUPER animated and talks with his hands...just like his momma :) He jabbers all the time....I can just see the wheels in his head turning. He tries to tell stories and reads books...he can't sit still for more than 2 minutes for any toy...he just runs and runs!

They are both just complete joys...I am definitely more laid back this go round...not too mention, I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old that also take up time, so when it comes to play time, it is just that...play! Sometimes I stress myself out because I don't think they know enough songs, nursery rhymes....they can't recite the alphabet yet or count to ten. But they sure do try! And they are having fun learning...I do find myself comparing them to Katelyn...because she knew so much more at their age...as far as numbers, colors, shapes, etc...but then I realize she was my only focus then and having more than one means juggling my time with each of them. My mantra is "Don't feel guilty...don't feel guilty..." I am giving each of them time, love and a faith based foundation. Just like they are trying to learn...so am I.
The boys are becoming more independent each day....and every morning I look forward to seeing their sweet faces. But I am pretty sure I will always see them as my babies. Still can't believe they are 21 months old....

Brycers....
This is my Mr. Bryce....Baby B...here are his stats....
Age: 13 months 2 days
Weight: 19 lbs 11 oz
Likes: He likes to climb...on anything and everything. He loves to play with any and every toy and is really starting to like to read books. Bathtime is his favorite. He actually cries when he has to get out...even if he has been in there for 30 minutes!! He LOVES LOVES LOVES to eat...and he will eat anything that I put in front of him. He is definitely a growing boy.
Dislikes: Waiting....for anything...food, cup, or if you take anything away from him he absolutely pitches a fit...HUGE TANTRUM...let's just say this kid has no patience...I see us butting heads in the future :)
Physical activity: He is my mover and shaker...as I mentioned, he is a climber. He started crawling a 7 months and is super fast. He is almost there on walking...he will stand up on his own, bend over and pick up toys...and you can just see it in his eyes that he wants to move and take a step forward...but he hesitates and just sits back down and crawls. Any day now though...my world will be turned upside down with him walking everywhere!!
Communication: (Same as bubba) What is funny about the boys is that they are not saying alot of "words". He knows "Mom" and "Dad"....usually uses Dad...he is a daddy's boy. But otherwise he just seems to babble alot. The best is when the boys are in their rooms in their cribs and are going down or waking up they have a language all of their own. They laugh and babble and will have their own "conversations". I can't wait until they want to talk to us :)
Weird Habit/thing: His laugh.....he sounds like he should be on the movie Revenge of the Nerds...his laugh is a mixture of high pitch snort...makes me laugh...hard
Bryce just puts you at ease with his presence. He has a smile that will cause anyone to stop and smile back. Although impatient at times, about 95% of the time he is super happy!! He has an unstoppable amount of energy and has a love for life. He is a cuddler and a wonderful sleeper. He even has a smile when he is sick. He is definitely the mischevious one but his charm wins you over ever time. He just makes me happy.

Bryce....and the dog bowl...
So just a short little story for today....as I have mentioned in the previous post, Mr. Bryce is quite the crawler...he is so quick....and as i have mentioned....mischevious. So, per normal, my mom was with my boys today (she lives with me Monday - Wednesday, still...she is a WONDERFUL women...well for this and many other reasons!) and both boys were sitting perfectly still playing contently, so she thinks to herself...I will run quickly to the little girls room. Well, she does, and approximately 2 minutes later, she hears something banging on the tile in the dining room/kitchen...so she quickly gets up and starts running to the kitchen.
And stops...and starts laughing...and then it all craziness breaks out...Carter is sitting on the floor and begins crying...a sure sign of a dirty diaper...but Granny had more important things to take care of...Bryce and his crazy mess. He is on all fours banging Sutton's water bowl on the tile and laughing...while being soaked with water from head to toe. Not to mention the dog food that is scattered about EVERYWHERE....good thing for me he hasn't mastered the art of picking up food and putting it in his mouth...however he is good at picking it up, which leaves doggie crumbs all over him. So (Carter still crying), my mom swoops up Bryce and starts mopping up and sweeping, stripping his clothes off and getting him changed, and then finally he was able to sit, nice and dry, and play, while Granny was able to get to Carter Man to change him and put a smile on his face.
So, this makes me laugh...and fear a little, of the day (that is just around the corner) where they are BOTH mobile and attacking the doggie food bowl...
Until tomorrow!

My March Resolutions....
So resolutions are supposed to happen in January...however, since I have fallen off the face of the earth since then (at least in blog world) I figured I would start now. My whole reason of starting a blog was to document my life....and become an famous blogger...okay...scratch that...:) Really....just to have a daily entry of what is going on, and how my kids and well, family are growing. With 8-month old twin boys and a 2 year old daughter....something new seems to happen each day. I have realized that I am horrible at keeping up a baby book (I want to apologize NOW to my kiddos) and although I take lots of photos...it is now only in spurts....I will take 100 pictures in a matter of two days....and then break for 1 month....so back to the resolution part....I am taking the vow to blog at least 3-4 times a week. This is actually very relaxing, banging on the keys of my laptop and letting my thoughts be put into print in the world wide web.
So, to make a long story short from last post to current.....here are a few things:
Carter - He is now weighing in at almost 20 pounds. He is my round lil' man and has so much dark hair!! He also has crazy hairy eyebrows (which I noticed tonight before bathtime) and I think we are going to have to attack him with wax as he gets older if he continues to grow hair as he does now. He has the best set of cheeks...they are big and kissable. He is, well, cotent to just sit in one spot and play with a toy forever. He can get to tummy position from sitting and roll to get anywhere, but he will not crawl. He started sitting up at a week past 7 months and has wonderful posture...but when it comes to moving, it just isn't happening. Cracks me up really....when he gets on his tummy he moves his arms and legs like crazy and smiles so big....I swear he is wondering to himself "Why am I not going anywhere?". At least this is what me and my mom think. He hates formula....I had nursed up to 8 months and due to circumstances, I had to quit nursing....so the switch has not been a good one for him. He eats three meals a day and refuses bottles. However, we have started sippy cups with milk (the real deal) and he really seems excited about that. He is such a little bear...I just love him! Oh, he did start clapping first and waving hello....it is not done on command yet, but he loves to talk and wave...and clap for himself! He still hasn't got down the art of self-feed, but he sure does like to grab lots of snacks in each hand and play with them. He is such a sweet kid, without a mischevious side to him. Just this honest, loving and kind-hearted face. Oh, and he has various names that we all refer to him....Carter Man, Carter Barter (said best by KK), lil' man....I am sure there will be more...
Bryce....oh my little Bryce....he is EVERYWHERE!! When he turned 7 months old he sat up on his own....3 days later, he leaned forward and started rocking on all fours....6 days later he started crawling and hasn't stopped....he is afraid of nothing. You can walk out of a room and he follows right behind...he will go down a dark hall by himself without a second thought. He loves to crawl to Sutton's (our dog) bowl. He won't self feed his yummy puffy snacks, however, a little kibble and bits go straight for the mouth. I don't get it :) He is now pulling up on various things and I give hime about another 6-8 weeks before he is walking...he is so determined to get somewhere, anywhere. He takes advantage of bubba not crawling too. He will go and steal a toy and just crawl off....you would think, "How mean?", but then you look at his sweet, little face with a huge smile and runny nose (always) and you just want to kiss him. He is my mischevious one....you can just see it, but then the eyes get you and you forget that he is up to something. He is weighing in at about 18 pounds....he is long and skinny....but he eats TWICE as much as his brother. Still haven't figured this out....he did not care at all when he was switched to formula...if it is in a bottle or on a spoon, he says "Yes, please!".
Both boys are so amazing together....they are so aware of each other....when they go to bed at night, first let me say, they are AMAZING sleepers...7:30p-7:00a....they know each other is there. They talk to each other and sooth each other from their own crib. Carter usually does most of the talking, and Bryce will lay there and pull the covers close and just listen and chime in on occassion. Bryce is usually the first to rise...and he will now greet you by sitting on his knees and holding on to the crib. They keep each other company as I am getting KK ready for bed. Carter is still my patient one and Bryce is more demanding. The personalities are so amazing to me. I love seeing how they come out more and more everyday.
Little Miss Katelyn....aka....KK....she is my princess. Perfect....no....huge heart and sweetest smile....yep! She has her days, like us all, and she acts her age at times, but for the most part, she really surprises me everyday with her love and understanding. She LOVES school....Fruit Loop Friday, all the art projects, the instruments and games. Her Montessori school is such a blessing. She is so self-sufficient in so many ways....and she is developing such great habits. She is also developing her brain. She loves letters, numbers and puzzles. She sings...but not only that, she performs. She has such confidence. I swear she is going to be on stage one day :) She tries to sound so grownup sometimes....I have to remind myself that she too is still so little. She loves clothes and shoes. We have fun every morning getting ready. She LOVES a pair of brown shoes she has from Striderite and she wants to wear them almost everyday. Sometimes I hide them from her when I want her to wear another pair...tehehehe. She is still a huge help with her brothers and never pitches a fit when it comes to me having to get the boys bathed and fed and ready for bed. She will just get a coloring book and hang out while I am taking care of things and she will show the boys and I what she is doing and then we make the most of our time together after the boys go down. The biggest thing in her life right now is.....the potty!! She has been doing great!! She is in panties during the day and pull ups at night. She rarely has accidents and is actually starting to tell me when she needs to go and not me ask her 1,000 times...This is crazy to me that my little girl is potty-training....this is such a HUGE step. I am so proud of her...she loves being a big girl! Not to mention the M&m she gets each time she goes. The best part of potty training that I hope I always remember is that instead of going #2 she tells me she needs to make a dinosaur....now that is a memory...that I can't wait to share with one of her boyfriends....okay...that would be cruel (but funny)...and I would never do that....but I can't say her father won't!
Baby #4....that's right...I said baby #4....we found out a week ago that I am expecting baby #4 (sorry, I have to keep writing it to believe it :) ) It is still so surreal.....I am so excited with the combination of so many other thoughts and feelings, but above all, so appreciative. Kev and I said that we wanted a big family, and 4 kiddos always felt right. I had no idea that they would all come so quickly, but what an amazing journey this will be. I am 6 weeks along and I am praying for a wonderful and healthy pregnancy and baby. We are not going to find out what we are having so we will be completely surprised. I have my first appt. March 30th. With my first two pregnancies I tried months to get pregnant without luck and then I had to take meds to have my sweet lil' kiddos....and this just happened. God is amazing! So as it is looking....I will have a 2 year old (turning 3 about a week and a half later), 2 16 month olds and a newborn....whoa! Good thing I have a wonderful hubby, a great family, a strong faith, amazing friends and my mom.
Well, that is what is going on....Kev and I are just trying to keep up :) Until tomorrow....
