Happy Halloween

Well, we have officially come to the end of Halloween.....after school parties, Halloween party at our cousins, Fall festivals, two nights of trick or treating and a TON of candy.....this momma is tired :)

We had such a blast tonight with the kiddos going door to door.  We went to my best friends neighborhood (our neighborhood is not into trick or treating...I think it is because we leave REALLY far out...so people go out to get candy) and had the best time!!

They ran up and down sidewalks....rang doorbells and proudly said "trick or treat" and got lots of good candy.  They giggled and laughed and I just smiled as they enjoyed every moment....you know, until it came time to go home :)

I am so glad that with every little thing we do we are making memories with our family.

I hope everyone had a wonderful evening....I will leave you with a pic of poor Austin....he was very sad to stop trick or treating...apparently he wanted to keep on going...

Time for a makeover...

Well...we have decided that we are not wanting to put our house on the market...for various reasons...1) We are getting close to the holidays and the idea of selling our house quickly freaks me out because I want to know where we are going to be for Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc...2) The idea of our house sitting on the market forever scares me too LOL. 3) Getting our house ready to be on the market is taking more time than I had planned...four kids and a to-do list of painting and moving things is a little harder than I expected.  So...we have pushed the BIG pause button :)

So, in light of that....I have decided it is time to do something with our master bedroom.  It is awful!  When we moved in I was concerned with nurseries (I was pregnant with the twins) and KK's big girl room.  Then, after the twins got here, it was crazy...and then I was pregnant again with lil' man...so again I did nothing with our room.  It became the catch all room with boxes of keepsakes, laundry, a pack and play, an excersaucer....and much, much more....so I look like a hoarder...maybe a beginner...but a hoarder none the less.

So I have the idea of what I want...kinda...my whole house is done in mainly neutral...fall type colors really...so I want to do something out of the box in the master bedroom.  I love blues/oranges together...I love a gray wall...I love bold prints....I like the idea of a simple basic (plush) bedding...but with great pillows with color and texture...I just can't really pin down anything specific.

So I know I have a few people that check this blog out on occassion...so if you do...and you have any blogs, websites, magazines...anything that you think might bring me inspiration bring it on...I really do like DIY projects...I would love to find a couple of pieces of furniture and make them my own.  So bring it on :)

Happy Wednesday!

My Family of Six....

So, since Austin was born...almost a year ago...we have only taken a handful of pictures of ALL six of us...it is difficult...someone is always running off...looking around...crying....refusing to smile...you get the picture :)

But we bit the bullet and called up our friend and photographer Chris, to take some fall pics of us.  I love this time of year and the colors that go with it!  I also fully intend to send out a Christmas card this year...we will see :)

We headed out to the Myriad Botanical Gardens and just wandered around.  The kids played and enjoyed each other and it was honestly not that stressful.  They were pretty darn cooperative....even in our fall clothes and the 80 degree weather LOL.  The scenery was beautiful and so were the kiddos :)

So here are some of the preview pics that Chris sent us....such a talented, talented photographer!  We are truly blessed to know him....

Our Family of Six

Our fun family picture

My sweet kiddos

I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures!  I look at the pictures and just smile...I still have to pinch myself sometimes to remember that it is all real...that I have been blessed with FOUR kiddos...it is so crazy to me sometimes....I have a house with a princess room, 3 cribs, toys in every room, laundry piled high, a to-do list a mile long.....above all that though, I have a family that I love and four unbelievable kiddos.

(You will have to excuse my sappy-ness over the next couple of weeks...I am feeling a little emotional over my youngest turning one....:)

Random...with a capital R :)

We have been busy bees lately....so here is a brain dump of some of the highlights.....

  • Last week, I decided it was long overdue to spend time with my nieces and nephew...so I had the four kiddos (besides my own) come over for an evening of fun!  (My oldest nephew was not there...he is almost a teenager...so totally not his idea of a good time LOL).  So we had 1 nine year old, 2 three year olds, 4 two year olds and an 11 month old.  FULL HOUSE!!
Dinner Time

Movie Time

  • Sooo....Friday, I had to take KK to the pediatrician....she was showing signs of an UTI...and the only way to find out...urine sample...can I just say, getting a 3 year old to pee in a cup is quite interesting...see...told you, random...
  • Friday night we had a blast though...we went to our first Halloween party of the year....ok, besides school...it is our only Halloween party...so it makes it the best :)  We got the kids dressed up and headed out....
Alvin and the Chipmunks

Mermaid
  • BIG XII Football - GO POKES!!!  Oklahoma State went on the road and and beat Missouri!!  Very exciting stuff....I love this time of year....I am hoping we keep our winning streak alive!!  7-0
  • Saturday evening, we hit the road...Kev, I and my best friend headed to Tulsa to celebrate the 30th birthday of a wonderful women...Amy!!  It was a black & white theme and we had a blast getting to see friends that I haven't seen in a long time!!
  • Check out my November babies....

There are 11 days until my sweet girl turns 4....and 12 days until my baby turns 1....time is flying by...it is crazy....I do not feel emotionally prepared for my first to get older and my baby to become a little boy....

  •  DATE NIGHT....so my mom asked if I minded if ALL the kids came and stayed the night tonight....welp...No I do not :)  That means me and my sweet hubs got to have an impromptu date night!!  We had dinner without crayons or milk cups :)  Then we went to the movies and saw Footloose....and I am not going to lie....I LOVED it!  I left with my feet dancing and a big smile on my face!!
  • So that is all I got....Happy Monday!

iLove

So I have entered back into the world of technology. I have an iPhone again:). The hubs and I got one yesterday after taking an almost two year hiatus.

We took the break because we started letting the world of technology come in between us.

Sound ridiculous?

Well it does to me...but it was completely true. We would get in the car and when he was driving I would get on my phone and play with apps...games, Facebook and etc.

Or when we were at a restaurant, Kevin would check the scores to whatever game was going on.

Harmless things, yes, however we both realized that it was truly cutting into our conversation time because we would have our nose stuck in our phone and we didn't even realize!

So we decided to do away with the phones and start talking :)....and we did for a long time. But now we are back!!

Since we (the iPhone and me) had such a long break, I was able to realize the thing I truly missed about it.

The camera....I LOVED the camera...I have not been able to be on the go and take a pic in SOOO long...so here are a few images I have taken in the last 24 hours.  Enjoy!!

KK's Face Painting at Hot Dog Happening (School Event)
KK and her Papa
Super cute plates at Target....made me want to throw a cookie decorating party for the kiddos....
Possible Christmas gift for kiddos....they LOVE doctor kits...so I sent it to the hubs to add to the list
Sweet Carter and his face painting
Mermaid things for my little mermaid-to-be :)
My little guy that woke up after being asleep for 3 hours...and now WILL not go back to sleep :)

Just take a few off the top....

Well...with our fourth child we have slacked a lot a little when it comes to keeping track of "firsts"....I feel bad...I do...but at the same time I am pretty sure he will not be quizzing me in the future on exact dates...at least I hope not :)

Anyway...I DID document the very infamous first hair cut :)

About to get started....look at that sweet face :)

He did such a great job!  Not one tear...and he just smiled and enjoyed all the sweet talk from the woman that cut it.  He is kinda a flirt :)

Hello Cheeks!!

So, first haircut was a success!!  So proud of my sweet boy...that turns one in 17 days...tear, tear...sniff, sniff....

Happy Tuesday!!

If you have nothing nice to say....

So lately, I have truly tried to focus on the positive in ALL situations...this is actually really hard in sometimes...does that sound bad???

But I have come to conclusion that in all situations, if you have nothing nice to say...it is best not to say anything.at.all.

I am ALWAYS amazed...and sometimes completely surprised at what people say...complete strangers...that feel the need to make an offhand comment.

One instance that have stuck out in my mind as of lately:

1.  At dinner with the family....all six of us (and I think my mom too) and we have our usual large table, 3 high chairs and a booster plus adults :)  We are quite the crew...crayons everywhere...giggles...maybe a few impatient cries...but for the most part, I truly believe my kiddos are pretty good at the dinner table.  Perfect, no...but they do have pretty decent manners.  A family is already seated next to us...and they are sweet...laughing at/with our kiddos...asking us the questions about each of them...and then as we begin to finish our meal, another family sits down at an adjacent table.  Once we were all done eating...and we are waiting an unusually long time for the check, Kev decided he would go ahead and take the kiddos and start getting them loaded up in the car as I waited for the check.  After he walks by the family...the mom looks at me and says, "That is why I only had one kid...that is too many...and they are so close in age....you life must be awful." Really!?!  I still have yet to come up with an appropriate response to this...

Honestly...I do get comments from people like this more often than I would like...but also I have people that come up and compliment my family and our crew WAY more....why is it we let negative comments stick with us longer than the positive??

I think this is why I am trying to concentrate on being kind to others, especially with my words.  I would not like to be the person that says something that might stick in their mind and cause any hurt or issues that might make them question who they are or feel as though they need to defend themselves in any way.  I feel it is best to encourage others and I pray that I can think before I speak :)

I hope everyone had a FANTASTIC weekend and a fun week ahead!!
***Sidenote....it was brought to my attention (THANK YOU THANK YOU AMY!!) That people were unable to leave comments on my blog...I was not aware...but after some help, I changed my settings and comments should be enabled.  So please feel free to stop in and say hello :)

Who do you love?

Well since I have done nothing but paint, stain, sand, repeat the past few days...in a room with no tv or anything entertaining...I have been watching netflix on my Ipad.  What is my chosen show?  Felicity....Season One.

This is the second time that I will watch this show from start to finish.  I borrowed the DVD'S from a friend of mine a couple of years back.  So I figured it was time to watch it again....anyway...onto what this post is REALLY about...

With most shows that I watch, there is always some sort of love triangle...or a love story with great hurt over years and wreckless decisions of breaking hearts and wrongful kisses.  This is the stuff good shows are made of...the good guy/bad guy...who to chose...the soul mate, the best friend, etc.

So here it comes...Who do you love??  Here is who I love....

Felicity
Basics of this show....love sick smart girl is intrigued and has huge crush on hot, popular boy from high school....follows 3000 miles to college based on yearbook signing....meets nice boy that is older...kind...and becomes her best friend....It is the Noel vs. Ben debate....I choose.....Noel...100%....which is odd, because I normally choose the guy with WAY more issues...but in this story...Nice boy wins all the way....

Dawson's Creek
Basics of this show....Girl and Boy are best friends...third wheel friend is apart of group...however, he is charming but lazy...Girl and Boy love each other...then don't....then do...then don't...then third wheel charming, lazy friend becomes part of love triangle...friends hate each other....repeat...Well...this is the good ol' Dawson vs. Pacey debate...and the indecisiveness of Joey Potter....I kinda wanted to slap her a time or too...anyway...I choose....PACEY....love his charm...his smile...the fact that he always wants to be a better man...and tries and tries...I know he took his best friends girl away and all...but I LOVE me some Pacey :)

Sex in the City
Basics of show...ok...everyone knows this...single girl in NYC...columnist...lots of bad dates...a few memorable boyfriends...Big vs. Aidan vs. Big vs. Burger vs. Big vs. Petrovsky vs. Big.....this is actually a toss up for me....I really like both Aidan and Big....I change my mind on this one...I guess in the end though...I really did want Carrie and Big to end up together....all the ups and downs...goods/bad....cheating...marriages and rings...I am glad that above all her BIG love was Big...

The hubs kinda laughs at me because I get somewhat emotionally involved in these shows and who they love :)

Good tv does that to me...well...I am off to watch a little TV with the hubs :)

Monday random post....

So I haven't been around for awhile....due to lots of randomness that has taken over our life...so here is a recap so everyone can stay in the loop :)

1. Well...we have been surrounded by house projects as we prepare the house to sale...I will reveal some of our befores and afters in a separate post...but the best part of the end result will be that our house will be on the market...and after 15 months of planning...Austin will have a finished nursery :) Ok...maybe there was not that much planning...and a lot more procrastinating.

2. Sickness...antiobiotics....dr. appts OH MY! About 10 days ago Katelyn was diagnosed with strep and put on antibiotics...3 days later...the boys were being treated with antibiotics for the same stuff...and then a couple of days ago we were back at the doctor with Austin...double ear infections. Poor kid...he woke up at 3am one night and wasn't able to go back to sleep until 6:30am...the next night he was up at 4:30 am....the next night up at 11:30pm and back to bed at 3am...it has been rough. Last night he slept through the ENTIRE night :) I think he is finally on the mend....he looked much happier this morning!

3. Birthday madness...I am putting the finishing touches on KK's decor and party gifts. I LOVE making things lately...the craft bug has bit me and I am enjoying the outcome. It is fun and relaxing to me...so after a long day of crazy in our household...it feels good to sit down with a glue gun and a hobby lobby bag full of fun :)

4. Fun mixed in...since Austin and I spent the day resting and at dr. appt's on Friday, Kev took the 3 older kiddos to the zoo. They had a blast and I loved their recap they gave me when they got home. Bryce just talks and talks...Carter gets so fired up that you cannot understand what he is saying and he also talks with his hands....Katelyn usually translates for me :)

5. Bad mom moment....Saturday morning we had soccer for KK. They did an amazing job running up and down the field...occassionally putting it in the goal...more laughing and running though. The best part of the 3 year old soccer?? Snack time...each parent signs up for a Saturday and brings juice and fruit snacks...and it is all the kids look forward too...so guess who forgot her Saturday??? That's right...me! I apparently signed up for Saturday, October 1st...but I wrote down Saturday, October 8th. Oh the disappointed faces....it was a down moment for me. I know worse things have happened...but it just goes to show that we all strive to do, remember, and be everything....

6. Back to Sickness....this morning I am not a work because I woke up feeling the need to throw up...(TMI...sorry!) But fortunately I have kiddos around to bring humor to it....So as I hang my head over the toilet between getting the boys all ready for MDO...Bryce walks in and puts his hand on my back and pats my back, Bryce: "Momma, what are you doing?"... me: "Well, buddy my tummy doesn't feel good and I think I might throw up..." Bryce: "Oh...I sorry..." then he pushes me aside puts his head in and spits....looks at me with a huge grin, Bryce: "I did it Momma, I did it" He was so proud of himself...couldn't help but laugh.

Happy Monday!!
