Best Weekend Ever

Whew....can't believe it is Sunday....

We had a great weekend at the Guy household.  Some of the highlights...

1.  My sweet hubs...his new job is going so UH-mazing...restaurant business is crazy...but I am loving the people he is working for....he was able to talk to and get to know the "Big" guy a little better this weekend.  He was assured that family is first, work is second and that there is an open door policy.  The hubs walked away with such a great feeling...and it is nice that he is going to be able to truly schedule around our kids soccer games, school performances, etc.

This is why I love this man....after a 10 hour day at work, he walks in and is attacked by our kiddos!  They missed him so much...so instead of saying "hold on" "not tonight" or "maybe later" he plopped down on the ground within minutes of walking in the house and began playing games with the kiddos...and then we ended the night on the couch with the kiddos watching the Thunder game with popcorn.  Now that is a great Saturday night :)

2.  Oh Bryce...this kid cracks me up...I have been attempting to give each child (when time allows) their own bath.  With 4 kiddos, there are few moments in the day to get one on one time.  So with an individual bath, I can laugh and talk to each of them about their day.  So while I was giving Austin a bath, the 3 older kids took off to the living room with Katelyn's headbands...and then came running back in all fixed up.  So Bryce comes up to me and says, "Take my picture" and strikes a pose!  Such a cutie!
 3.  Austin and I had some really great one on one time Saturday....he decided an afternoon nap just wasn't going to happen :)  So we took the time to read books and color.  Such a happy little fella...he loves his books and he is really starting to like coloring...and he doesn't even eat the colors anymore :)

4.  Special delivery!!  Love me some Etsy....combine that with throw pillows and I am one happy girl!!  My new throw pillow covers have come in!  I am going to cover up some old pillows from the couch to spice it up a little...So incredibly excited!!

5.  Church....ahh....love love love loved the message...(if you are curious, find it here).  We had our final week of the Samson series and it was truly powerful and will challenge me as I take on this week.  Best takeaway...."Failure is an event, never a person" Craig Groeschel.  So true...it can be very easy to let a situation define us...anyway...so good!!

6.  74....as in degrees!!  That was what we took full advantage of today :)  After a busy day of donuts for breakfast, church, trip to Target, and school setup, we headed to McAlister's to pick up sandwiches and then to the park for slides and swings...and a picnic, of course.  So fun!  Love how much the kids love playing with each other and with us.

7.  Craft time....thank you Melissa & Doug for such fun toys!  When Austin was down for a nap, I set up the 3 older children with plates of wooden beads with shapes and letters and a colored shoe string to make a necklace.  The way they played showed how different they are....Katelyn was busy making a pattern with her beads and spelling her name....Bryce, got somewhat frustrated at first...takes alot of hand coordination to get the bead thing down...but with some help he was sucessful and found the first initial of each of the kiddos (K, C, B, A) and then proceeded to fill it up with his remaining wooden beads.  Carter did his own thing...he would separate the wooden beads by letters and shapes.  Then by colors and then he would put them all back together and then do it all over again.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend with my family.  We have a couple of kiddos that seem like they are going to be getting sick....coughing like crazy but hopefully it won't get too bad!  I hope everyone has a great week!!
